What is SCIP?

SCIP stands for Structural Concrete Insulated Panel. A typical system includes a rigid expanded-polystyrene insulating core, welded galvanized steel mesh on both faces and diagonal truss wires connecting the meshes through the core.

The lightweight panels are erected and connected on site. Additional reinforcement is installed where required around panel joints, corners, openings, roof interfaces and foundations. Approved shotcrete concrete or mortar is then applied to both faces. After curing, the wall becomes an insulated reinforced-concrete monolithic assembly.

SCIP is not the same as SIP

SCIP

Steel mesh + insulating foam core + structural concrete/mortar skins forming a reinforced cementitious assembly.

SIP

Foam insulation bonded between board skins like OSB. A different structural system with wood detailing.
